Hybrid-AI film: Natur – a short film about the anthropocene

Natur is a thought-provoking animated film exploring humanity's complex relationship with the natural world. Created for Denmark's national broadcaster DR & Aarhus University, this short film uses a clever dialogue between a fox and a crow to examine how humans have shaped, controlled, and categorized nature throughout the anthropocene era.

Our approach

We developed a distinctive 2D animation style for this project, creating characters who serve as nature's philosophical observers. Through their conversation, they discuss rewilding, human control, our selective definition of natural beauty, and the profound disconnect between human plans and natural processes.

The short film is part of a series for DR based on Aarhus University Press's popular "Tænkepauser" book series. It transforms academic concepts into an accessible, engaging visual story that challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with the natural world.
